Superman Returns

On my way back home from Camp, I happened to pass by TS Video Pte Ltd's branch at Tampines EastLink Mall. And just happened that they were currently having a Store-wide Discount. Gosh! I've been walking pass this particular shop so, so, so many times & I totally missed it?! Where were my eyes!?

Anyway, I walked into the shop, and there was this girl shop assistant, wearing a yellow blouse, looked quite cute & decent, but I guessed she would have looked even better if she were to wear a smile on her face.

Ok... Enough of Side-track. I slowly "examined" every single movie, animation & drama series available in the Store. Picked up & put down countless "potentials". Finally, I got Super-man Returns, Underworld & Wang Lee Hom Concert, all DVD. And it was quite cheap, 3 for S$30 haha!! What a steal!!!

But I was only able to watch Super-Man Returns, as the DVD player couldn't read the Underworld DVD [Might be coding problem].

Super-man Returns was set 5 years after Super-man's sudden Departure. In the beginning, the story began that Superman assumed that his planet, Krypton, was still around, only to find out that the planet has been reduced to Cosmic particles. Thus, with a fallen heart, Superman made his way back to Earth, and re-assumed his Alter-Ego, Clark Kent. And only to realise his Arch-Rival, Lex Luthor, was released from Prison and has been wielding a sinister plan to have his revenge on Super-man.

After I finished the whole Movie, I felt that Super-man symbolised a common thing in every Human. He symbolised Hope, Pride & Honour, Unselfishness & Loyalty.

Super-man will always appear at dire times, where mere human strength is impossible to overcome & conquer. Something which reminds me that we humans are actually very fragile & weak in context.

Super-man would forgo his weakness towards Kryptonite, and put on a brave fight against Evil. This reminded me that even the strongest & toughest man, has their weakness & can't fight Evil alone.

But, what touches me most was the ending part, where every single citizen unite together to pray for Super-man's well being. And this is a symbol of Unity & Hope.

Story Plot

He returns to work as Clark Kent at The Daily Planet in Metropolis, where he learns Lois Lane is now a mother and has won the Pulitzer Prize for her article Why the World Doesn't Need Superman. During Superman's absence, Lex Luthor has been released from prison, conned a rich widow into a sham wedding to get his hands on her money, and stolen Kryptonian crystals from the Fortress of Solitude. Luthor returns to Metropolis and experiments with a tiny fragment in a pool which grows to immense size. The growing crystal causes a blackout, affecting the take off of a space shuttle tethered to a Boeing 777, which Lois Lane is aboard, covering the story. Clark flies into action as Superman and stops the plane from crashing into a baseball field.

The world rejoices in Superman's return, but Lois is more concerned with the blackout. Clark meets her fiancé Richard White, nephew of Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White, and their son Jason. Superman is hurt when he overhears a conversation between Lois and Richard in which she says she never loved Superman. He buries himself in his work, including halting a bank heist and saving Kitty, Luthor's co-conspirator. While Kitty distracts Superman, Luthor steals kryptonite from a museum. Perry assigns Lois to interview Superman whilst Clark investigates the blackout. At night, Lois goes out for a smoke on top of the The Daily Planet and Superman takes her for a flight, during which he apologizes for leaving her.
