Death of Lydia Shum (沈殿霞)
Farewell Lydia Shum! The Chinese Entertainment scene will forever miss this, once lively, cheerful and lovely lady. Best known by all as Fei-fei (肥肥), an on-screen name for her bubbly, and plump outlook, she has appeared in many well-known Hong-Kong flims, as well as many foreign international productions.
Health & death
Lydia Shum had several chronic ailments : cholangitis, diabetes, and hypertension. In 2002, she was admitted to hospital and had 36 gallstones extracted. In September 2006, Shum was diagnosed with a liver tumor and cancer around the gallbladder. Immediately, doctors removed one third of her liver.
Prior to the cholecystectomy done in 2002, she had a history of bile duct inflammation as early as 1978. The inflammation recurred in 1989. On September 22, 2006 the bile duct inflammation had recurred, and 4 days later, the inflammation had complicated the liver and her coma began. She woke from the coma on October 1, 2006. On January 29, 2007 she once again entered the operating room to remove a liver tumor which weighed 2.7kg. On March 8, 2007 the tumor was found to be growing again so she had a cholecystectomy once again.
On November 1, 2006, a 24-year-old Indonesian domestic helper, Triyuliarti Yuyun, was convicted of violating the Hospital Authority Ordinance and sentenced to four weeks in jail. Yuyun entered a ward at the Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong (QMH) on October 1, 2006 where Shum had been receiving treatment, and attempted to take photographs of Shum. Later, it was confirmed that Yuyun was a domestic helper to one of the employees of the local magazine East Week, but she had not been authorized to take photographs of Shum. East Week's senior management did not approve of the action and offered an apology to Shum. Sentencing Magistrate Colin Mackintosh said Yuyun's actions were premeditated and done for financial gain and that the serious infringement of the patient's privacy warranted a custodial sentence. On that occasion, Shum was discharged from the hospital in July 2007.
On October 11, 2007, Shum collapsed at home due to pleural effusion, and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong for emergency treatment. She was transferred to the QMH later that day. She was discharged from the hospital on October 16, 2007.
Shum was admitted to the intensive care ward at QMH on 22 January, 2008 and checked out on 26 January, 2008. Her mother passed away in Canada while Shum was in the hospital.
She was once again admitted to the intensive care ward at QMH on 2 February, 2008. Her conditions worsened, so on February 19, 2008 - 3 a.m. (local time) her family decided not to let her suffer more. It was decided that her breathing apparatus would be removed from her, her family spent time with her by her bedside till she passed away peacefully at 8:38 a.m. (local time). It is unfortunate that she was not able to say her last words then.
Prior to her death, she was known to be suffering of liver cancer and had been fighting it for 2 years. As part of the treatment for her illness, she underwent Chemotherapy and several Kidney dialysis. On February 20, 2008, Shum's family announced in Hong Kong that Shum will be buried next to her mother in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.

She returned to films in 2004 with the comedy In-Laws Outlaws.
Shum starred in Singapore's Channel 5 sitcom Living with Lydia and Cantonese series like Slim Chances. Her performance in Living with Lydia won her the "Best Comedy Performance by an Actress" award at the 2003 Asian Television Awards. She said it was the first time she had acted in an English drama in her 40 year career so far.

New Year Resolution
Here are my New Year Resolution. I'm trying to list things that I can do within my means now...
1) Continue to do facial treatment (I wanna have smooth face!!!)
2) More formal clothes (At least 10-15 more sets)
3) Leather belt
4) Leather shoe ( I'm aiming at Pedro or Aldo)
5) New PC monitor or CPU (My current one is nearing "R.I.P")
6) Driving license (Finally....)
Optional:
1) Dental
2) Lasik surgery (Heard from my friend is about 4K for 2 eyes)

French Revolution
Went over to my Godma's house but god dad & god brother not around as they have went to work.
Not much has changed in their house. Just a few new additions, two stingray!!! haha!!! I tell you, they are absolutely CUTE!!! But JUST DON'T STING ME... will do...
Heard that my god dad had a slight stroke last year, but luckily it wasn't life threatening. So, he had a good one year rest, and now he's slowly back to his feet again & slowly going back to driving taxi again... At least that's something good to hear...
Left her house around 1:30pm. Because my Grandma's house got Lion Dance at 3pm, and we were told to be early.
The original plan was this:
- Lion dance from 3pm to 3:30pm.
- Small meal from 3:30pm to 4pm
- Black Jack from 4pm to 5:15pm.
- BYE! BYE! Go meet friends at Chinatown.
But the Lion Dance troops were awfully late. They came at 5:30pm!!! And the whole show was only a miserable 10-15 mins!!! OH MY GOD!!! WASTE MY TIME!!!
After that, i quickly rush down to Chinatown to meet Steve, Jane, Bernice & Sally. They were at this French Restaurant, Les Brasseries, it's a semi-fine dining restaurant besides Ikukan Japanese Restaurant. It's located at the cross junction between Club Street & Mohamed Ali Lane.
Though we only had 5 people, but we were given a VIP room, with our own mirror, Champagne Chiller etc etc.
The assistants were very friendly, and very willing to promote their famous dishes, as well as recommend a few types of wines to compliment the food.
Food was just simply DIVINE!!! The restaurant is very generous with the servings, and you get what you pay for. As for wine, we ordered a glass, and it was half filled! Very generous...
The Manager was very warm & constantly gather feedback from us. And we even received a discount card for our next visit! AWESOME!!!

New Clothes!!!
Went out on 2nd Day of Chinese New Year & meet up with Bernice & Sally.
Met Bernice first @ City Hall. We were supposed to go Orchard Road but 90% of the shops were closed, so we went to City Hall instead. Luckily most restaurants were opened, so we had our lunner (Lunch + Dinner) at Sakae Sushi. Not many people, very cosy & nice.
Ordered alot of food. But we forgot to take photos... (Sorry! We were busily munching away.. ha! ha!)
We were surprised that Zara was opened for business on 2nd Day of CNY, and luckily I bought my $100 Zara Shopping Voucher. HA! HA! It was one of the best times I had shopping at Zara. There were about 6-7 guys (Excluding Male Assistants) at the Male Section at any one time. Thus, I was able to take my time trying on the clothes I fancy, without the need to rush through things. Cause, normally, Zara @ Marina Square would be packed with Shop-a-holics, and the queue outside the Changing Room would be so long that it just simply turns my shopping mood off!
Bought one set of shirt & pants plus a V-Neck T-shirt, after discount, around $150.
Then, we set off to meet Sally & we sat down at New HongKong Cafe to chill...
"Tickle, Tickle..." My itchy finger... Ha! ha!
My fingers just can't resist the temptation... Ha! ha!

On my Birthday: 29th Jan
Every year, an unknown fear would strike me, especially on my Birthday, because many unusual, weird and unlucky things would happen to me... Thus, every time my Birthday comes by, I would be extra careful, be it what I say or what I do.
This year's birthday was no exception as well. Throughout the whole day I was very careful, constantly reminding myself to be extra careful in whatever things I do or say...
Thankfully the day ended without much "hic-cups". At night, met up with Ber, and we headed to our "Secret Hideout" haha!
When I met her, she passed me a cake. At first I thought she was the one who bought it, but it turned out to be her guy friends, which really came at a surprise. Because in my option, they don't really like me much. But, what they did today was rather sweet. And it brought a slight smile to my face...

One more year has past, and Ive grown one year older. Any wiser? I'll look back on the past one year later in the next post, and judge whether I have grown any wiser.
Last night, I held my 23rd Birthday at [MISS U CAFE], located at a corner of Jalan Pari Burong.
Really enjoyed myself last night at the Celebration/Gathering. I had lots of laughter & joys. Not mentioning all the photos taken!
[I'll upload the photos later, as the collection is yet complete.]

Rich Dad Poor Dad
I heard of this series of books since my Poly School days. Not much were mentioned about it among my friends, but I began to hear more about it when after I stepped into the SOW (Society of Workers).
Basically, it's a series of books focusing on opening one's mind on ways to increase his wealth exponentially, besides just working.
Just recently, there was a Book Fair below the place I worked. While browsing through, I saw this book: "Rich Dad's: Retire Young, Retire Rich". Ever since I started my journey on the very first page, I couldn't stop myself from reading on. Each chapter, each section, each page, Mr. Robert T. Kiyosaki, kept emphasizing & re-emphasizing, that everyone can be rich, rich beyond one's imagination. And retire early to enjoy the beauty of this world.
But the catch phrase is:
"Understand your enemy & yourself fully, before you enter the Battle Field..."
Rich Dad's: Retire Young, Retire Rich, has truly inspired me to use my spare time wisely on increasing my Financial IQ, and using what I've gathered to increase my wealth.
Next in line, would be this book in series: Rich Dad, Poor Dad

Double Date Part II
LaLaLa... It's Double Dating Time again!!! Haha!!! Met up with Steve, Jane & Ber on Thursday at City Hall. I was a little late, since I reached there only around 7:15pm.
Wanted to dine at this Japanese Restaurant at Marina Square. But it was out of our budget. Never mind... One day, I'll be able to dine there without worrying the price... JUST YOU WAIT!
Thus, we diverted to this Restaurant called "Aza" something... I only remember them for their unique range of Ice cream. But didn't know they have a dining cafe as well. COOL!!!
The food & dessert were very nice... *YUM YUM* Very nicely decorated & displayed. 4 of 5 stars haha!!
Then, we went to Topshop & Zara shop shop... But one small incident happened... *SOB SOB*
I accidentally broke Ber's toenail *Heart pain* Cuz she was walking behind me, then her toe knock against the heels of my shoe & broke her nail... And started bleeding... *Sob sob* So sorry...

Wanted to dine at this Japanese Restaurant at Marina Square. But it was out of our budget. Never mind... One day, I'll be able to dine there without worrying the price... JUST YOU WAIT!
Thus, we diverted to this Restaurant called "Aza" something... I only remember them for their unique range of Ice cream. But didn't know they have a dining cafe as well. COOL!!!
The food & dessert were very nice... *YUM YUM* Very nicely decorated & displayed. 4 of 5 stars haha!!
Then, we went to Topshop & Zara shop shop... But one small incident happened... *SOB SOB*
I accidentally broke Ber's toenail *Heart pain* Cuz she was walking behind me, then her toe knock against the heels of my shoe & broke her nail... And started bleeding... *Sob sob* So sorry...

Double Date
Last Sunday was perhaps the most, most, most, most, most wonderful day for the past one year...
Why?! Because, I can finally hold her hands in-front of her best friend... A thing both of us "lived" in fear for such a long time. But last Sunday, we were both like a beast finally release from captivity. YES!!! In front of her best friend & her best friend's boyfriend.. Both of us openly held each other, hugged each other and openly flirted with each other... The feeling was just so wonderful!!!
okok... Last Sunday, we went "Double". haha! Me & Ber, Jane & Steve. Met them at Orchard around 7pm. We ate, shopped, joked, laughed, and stoned... haha! All the way from Orchard, to City hall, to Suntec City, to Esplanade, then finally to Merlion Park & back home...
So much photos, so much laughters & so much joy... Now, only photos could serve as memories of THAT DAY...

Went to this pub at Pasir Ris Park on Wednesday Night. The sky was SO Beautiful... Full of stars, Romantic Music, Romantic Ambiance & finished off with my Darling... Just perfect...
Went back to the same place on Thursday Night with Steve & Jane. The sky was even better, Stars even brighter, but Ambiance not that great: R&B... But well, it was romantic...
